This app is as smooth as butter. It's not bloated like Go SMS and Handcent. There are so many great features, wow where do I start ... great job! Best free messaging alternative for the stock app on Galaxy S4. SMS is fast, and group chat also works perfectly. I'm on Sprint (that supports MMS messaging over WiFi) and Textra is the only third-party messaging app that works with MMS over WiFi !!!!!! Plus, it's free, without ads. But you have to uninstall other SMS apps first, as they can interfere with Textra. After I did it was just perfect.

simple. Nice. Fast. Even the developers know their app is very good as well as free. Nothing, this is the best SMS / MMS alternative app I have ever used. Once it was released for the first time, I fell in love. Upon launch, Textra automatically prepares all technical elements in just a few seconds. And the speed does not stop there. I have about 60,000 texts. With my stock app I have to sit there and wait forever many hiccups and downloads and blah blah blah ... I've tried every alternative SMS app I can find. Textra is the only one to handle all of them without skipping a beat. It also allows you to customize the settings for each contact. Bubble color, icon color, notification sound, vibration pattern, LED color ... whatever I want. It just works. You don't have to fight the app. Do yourself a favor and get Textra messenger now!

An excellent free alternative to stock letters. The program just works. You can set notifications, bubble colors, and even delivery reports for each contact. Highly recommended!
Textra is a very nice alternative app, rich in SMS and MMS.
what's new
PURE BLACK theme option added (+ bubble color option).
Textra settings> customize notifications> during phone call options have been added.
Added the ability to send an "empty" message (some countries require this to top up for example bus tickets). Press the space bar, then tap the send icon.
Textra now works with most Bluetooth in-car messaging systems, so for example, if your car is reading your messages, Textra will now mark it as read and clear notifications.
